Fast and pray for America.

We need to pray for revival, a Third Great Awakening — that God would pour out His Holy Spirit and work repentance and revival in our land and give us the knowledge and fear of the Lord.

Fast and pray for America: Our Founding Fathers called numerous fasts. Christians should fast and confess personal and national sins in the spirit of 2 Chronicles 7:14: If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land (ESV).

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12). We can’t lose. They can’t win.

The Transformed Wife

Written By the Puritan Richard Baxter (1615 – 1691) from his book “The Godly Home.”

These are Richard Baxter’s instructions to wives. They are convicting and challenging!

Direction 1 : Be especially loving to your husbands.

Direction 2: Live in a voluntary subjection and obedience to them. It is God who appointed them your heads. Do not deceive yourselves by giving the bare titles of government to your husbands when you must have your will in all things, for this is but mockery and not obedience.

Direction 3: Learn from your husbands as your appointed teachers, and do not be self-conceited and wise in your own eyes, but ask them such instructions as your case requires. “Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.” (1 Corinthians 14:33, 34)

Direction 4: Set yourselves to amend all those faults that they reprove in you. Do not take it wrongly to be reproved; do not swell against it, as if they did you harm or wrong. It is not a good sign to reject reproof (Proverbs 10:17; 15:10, 31-32; 17:100).

Direction 5: Honor your husbands according to their superiority. Do not speak of their infirmities to others, behind their backs, as some trifling gossips do who do not know that their husbands’ dishonor is their own and that to open it causelessly before others is to double their shame. (He does state if you need counsel, ask a “prudent friend for advice.”)

Direction 6: Live in a cheerful contentedness with your condition, and take heed of an impatient, murmuring spirit. It is a continual burden to a man to have an impatient, discontented wife. It is far heavier than his poverty. A contented, cheerful wife helps make a man cheerful and contented in every state.

Teaching biblical womanhood to young women as God commands in Titus 2:3-5. Married for 44 years!
Titus 2:3-5:
“The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.”
According to Paul, if women will not love their husbands and children as godly homemakers, the Word of God will be blasphemed.

A community built to equip men with the resources they need to provide safety, stability and service as they become the Resilient men they are called to be.

1985: The inauguration of President Ronald Reagan to a second term, already postponed a day because January 20 fell on a Sunday, becomes the second inauguration in history moved indoors because of freezing temperatures and high winds. The parade is cancelled altogether.

My wife and I are the proud parents of an autistic 31-year-old son. Despite the love and support of family and friends, autism leaves us exhausted and devastated. We do not know why our family suffers with autism other than that we live in a fallen world. Some would ask why God permits such things, but we pity those who suffer such things and do not know the Lord. We look forward to that day when Christ “will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” (Revelation 21:4). We pray that God will be glorified in healing our son in this life, but we know that he will not be autistic in heaven.
